Joe grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, where he graduated from the University of North Texas (then called North Texas State College) in 1961. After being stationed in a number of places around the world, while serving in the U.S. Navy, he and his wife Dee settled in San Diego.

Joe and Dee have attended LifeBridge Church since January 1997. Joe currently serves as an Elder with responsibilities for the Assimilation Ministry and as the Chairman of the Missions Committee. Joe and Dee participate in an outreach ministry for English Speaking American inmates in La Mesa Prison in Tijuana, Mexico. Since retiring, Joe and Dee enjoy playing golf, world travel, and being involved in their grandchildren’s lives.

Joe says, “You might not know that... one day many years ago I shot a 75 in a round of golf. One of my goals is to someday shoot another round one stroke better than that day.
