Acts: Beginnings – An Anchor You Can Trust

Sermon Questions for Reflection – Read Acts 27:1-44

  1. Read 1 Cor. 6:19-20. Paul wrote this to the church in Corinth. How do you see him living out this truth in our story in Acts 27?  How should we live our lives today in light of the fact that we have been bought with a price?
  2. Read Romans 1:3-15; 15:20-32. Why do you think Paul longed to visit Rome? (Aside from God’s leading of course.) In what ways does Paul’s journey to Rome parallel that of Jesus to Jerusalem?
  3. From today’s passage, what can we observe/ learn from the way Paul deals with this situation? Paul encouraged everyone on the ship to keep their courage. What, in the passage, gave him the confidence to do this?
  4. From this story, what can we learn about the sovereign providence of God and the personal responsibilities of humans? (Notice Paul’s warning to those who were thinking of abandoning ship.)
