THE STORY: Week 14 – Holy Spirit

  1. Do you find yourself praying directly to the Holy Spirit more/less than Jesus or the Father?  Why do you think there is or isn’t a difference?
  2. Since the Holy Spirit has fully come, why do we see people singing or praying for Him to come (or come “more”)?  Eph. 5:18 warns us to not get drunk but to “be filled with the Spirit.”  How does one live “filled” with the Spirit?  And, conversely, what does it look like for a believer to live NOT filled with the Spirit?
  3. Read Galatians 5:16-26.  How does “living by the Spirit” lead us to being filled with the Spirit?  In this passage the enemy/hindrance to being filled with the Spirit is our sinful, fleshly nature.  Paul warns us not to live under the influence of alcohol or our flesh – but instead, willingly come under the influence of the Holy Spirit daily.  What are some practical things we can do to achieve this?
  4. Read Romans 2:1-4.  Being a person of judgment or judging isn’t the role God had envisioned for us.  It’s the kindness of the Lord that leads people to repentance.  What are some practical ways you can partner with the Holy Spirit this week to show God’s kindness to your world?  (Start at home!)
