Marie came to faith in Jesus as a nine-year-old in Vacation Bible School, after realizing she had “dirt” in her heart and needed Jesus to forgive her sins. She attended a very missions-minded church and felt called to missions (specifically Ivory Coast in West Africa) as a 14-year-old. Praying about where to go to college, God used her pastor’s wife to encourage her to leave Washington State for Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. She and Chuck met her first week in college, started dating a year later, broke up a few years after that, and the Lord brought them back together many years later. After college Marie made her way to San Diego where she worked for Bethel Seminary. During her time at Bethel, God opened the doors for Marie to go to the Ivory Coast for a summer, helping a team of missionaries there. This experience led her to have a heart for missionaries and especially those going through re-entry.

One Sunday morning in November 2004, God told Marie to find a Baptist General Conference church (now Converge Worldwide). A yellow pages search led her to our church where she immediately got plugged in, being fully integrated within 2 weeks! By this time Chuck and Marie were dating again and in the summer of 2005 they married here. A year later their son Tymen was born. Their family lives in Escondido and Marie works for The Ken Blanchard Companies.

Marie has been on the Missions Team for many years, has gone on mission trips to Ethiopia twice, and is currently in a lady’s Life Group. She feels honored to be invited to join the LBC Board and desires to humbly serve as the Lord leads.
